Uguisu Poo Co. Ltd. has a very long history that is traceable since 1600s during the Edo period of feudal Japan. We have more than 400 years of tradition in farming and harvesting the best Uguisu No Fun. The people near the foot of Mt. Ibuki has been farming Japanese Nightingale Bird Droppings initially for cleaning purposes as it effectively removes stains from the kimono garment. Eventually, people discovered that using Uguisu No Fun or Bird Poop on face improves their skin making it smoother, softer, brighter while decreasing the pore size and removing any discoloration and signs of sun damage. This discovery leads to a spike in demand for Uguisu No Fun and leads to the establishment of our company in 1609.
Today, Uguisu Poo Co. Ltd. is the oldest and the only company allowed to farm and sell Uguisu No Fun all over Japan. Companies farming on populated areas (above 2 million) were recently closed by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Our company is dedicated in selling only the best Uguisu No Fun, most commonly known as geisha facial or bird poop facial, a rare and effective facial treatment with over four centuries of history in Japan. Our company only process the purest Uguisu No Fun facial treatment masks and soaps.
Japanese Nightingale Bird droppings or Uguisu No Fun are usually sold unprocessed. It is harvested from the bird’s excrement and drying them out under the sun for atleast 10 to 15 days. However, advanced research shows that there are many waste materials not needed by the human skin in raw Uguisu such as dead bacterial remnants, ammonia and food residue eaten by the Nightingale bird like seeds, worms, insects and plant fiber. With that in mind, we removed these waste materials to create the purest Uguisu No Fun we call as Enhanced Uguisu No Fun that is scientifically proven to be four times more effective than the unprocessed, raw Uguisu No Fun.
Japanese Nightingale also known as Japanese Bush Warbler or Cettia Diphone among researchers, is the only bird that produces Uguisu No Fun. We use free ranged birds which means that they are never put in a cage or confined in a seclusion. Free ranged birds roam freely without any territorial limitations. Since these birds are non migratory, they stay on a specific area.
Our company uses a very huge plastic receptacle containing bird seeds that we unravel to different areas in Mt. Ibuki. The bird seeds will attract the Nightingale birds and huge flocks of birds will eventually feast on the seeds for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Once the feeding stops, about fifteen to twenty five kilos of bird excrement is expected to be harvested in one area. Harvesting is done thrice a day per area. First harvest is done during seven in the morning, the second harvest is during ten in the morning and the last is at around two in the afternoon. Japanese Nightingale Birds are usually resting from three in the afternoon onwards and mating and courting activities occur in late afternoon before sunset. No harvesting can occur during the winter season.
The collected Uguisu No Fun from the Japanese Nightingale birds are immediately sent to a processing facility just near the area where it is purified using centrifugation and reversed osmosis. Only about thirty percent of the collected Uguisu no fun are retained as the remaining seventy percent are made up of ammonia, bacterial debris, cytoplasmic components and undigested seeds, insects, fruits and plants eaten by the bird. Research shows that enhanced Uguisu No Fun contains four times more guanine and proteolytic enzymes than raw Uguisu No Fun.
The purified Uguisu No Fun is then dried and sterilized indoors using high frequency UV rays for about two weeks. A common misconception is that Uguisu No Fun is sun dried. Though, sun drying is the only method of Uguisu No Fun sterilization before UV lights were invented, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare issued a health hazard warning with regards to sun drying the bird poop because disease carrying vectors such as flies and mosquitoes can contaminate these droppings if left in an open area for 2 weeks.
Using a machine and sometimes the human hands, it will be grinded into its fine powder form and processed either as a facial mask or soap that everybody loves. The Uguisu No Fun Facial Masks are intended for facial use and is 100% safe and sterilized. UV sterilization ensures the absolute destruction of any microorganisms present in the Japanese Nightingale bird’s feces. The two weeks duration ensures the even the spores which are the vegetative form of the microorganism is effectively destroyed. We created the soap due to the skin brightening effect of the mask that renders the face multiple shade lighter than the body. The soap is intended for both face and body use and we recommend using the soap atleast once a day and the mask atleast twice a week.
